Rei-ki Healing

Rei-ki (pronounced as Ray-key) is a Japanese word representing an ancient healing procedure. It was an ancient therapy – a natural healing technique - prevalent in India till the time of Buddha. It disappeared after Buddhist period. It was re-discovered by Mr.Mikaorni Usui of Kyoto, Japan toward the end of the 19th century. It was he who named it Rei-ki. As Usui was a doctor in the real sense of the world, he made his life’s work to heal other people’s body and mind.

In Japanese, the character Rei stands for holy, spirit, mystery, gift, nature spirit or invisible spirit; and the character ki means energy, nature, scene, talent and feeling. Usually Rei-ki means Universal Life Energy, the essence of the Universe implying the one-ness of the universe. The Rei-ki healer utilizes (channels) the universal life energy for man’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. From Japan, Rei-ki has spread to other countries, particularly North America. Reiki practitioners are also in Kerala.
