MEDICAL FACULTY
The faculty is headed by an
Ayurvedic Physician of considerable

Born as the son of Mr. Narayana
Iyer on 20th June 1920 at Chalakudi
Sri Kizhukkumadom Raghavan Thirumulpad
had his schooling from Chalakudy
High School. After completion
of high school he went to his
father’s native place in
Thirunelvali to study Sanskrit.
After returning from there he
joined the astrology class under
the guidance of Mr. Mandarambathu
Narayanan Namboothiri.

Mr.Thirumulpad’s education
continued again with Shri Krishna
Variyar (debate) and Mr.Subba
Ramapattar (grammar) until he
joined the Railways.
During his service days he fell
ill and it was diagnosed that
he was suffering from the attack
of Tuberculosis bacillus. The
allopathic doctors had no hope
in saving his life. It was Dr.Vasudevan
Nambeesan (the then Chief Physician
of Thrissur Government Ayurveda
College) treated him from the
disease and saved his life. He
resigned from the service owing
to his illness and when he was
cured Dr.Nambeesan appointed him
as his cook and he taught Mr.Thirumulpad
Ayurveda. The course was completed
in 5 years and then took the Vaidyabhooshanam
degree in the following examination.
He started his practice after
registering as ‘A’
class Medical practitioner in
Travencore cochin Medical Council.
At first it was with Mr.Sankaran
Namboothiri, then at Thrissur
Ayutrvrda Hospital. At this time
he got a scholarship and went
to Bombay to have a course from
Indian Institute of Natural therapeutics
in naturopathy.
After
that he returned to Kerala and
started his practice in Ayurveda.
He had been the author of many
books like Budhaharmam, Mughakannadi,
Raghavieem, Kriyakramam, Aashtangadarshanam
etc. Now he resides at Chalakudi. |

Born in 1926 at Ernakulam,
Cochin, Dr. C.K. Ramachandran
is a highly reputed physician
in both ayurvedic and allopathic
systems of medicine. Educated
in institutions such as
ayurvedic college, Trivandrum,
University of Madras, Dundee
Royal Infirmary, Scotland
and University College Hospital,
London, he has qualifications
such as Vaidya Kalanidhi,
MBBS, DTMH, MRCP and FRCP.

He has considerable experience
in clinical practice as
well as in holding valued
professional positions.
He was also a professor
of medicine till 1981
and has made more than
500 platform presentations
in various branches of
medicine in national and
international conferences.
Dr. Ramachandran
has written several books
on modern medicine and
ayurveda, two of which
are in english –
rest in malayalam. He
has been honoured with
medals and awards by several
organizations, both in
india and abroad. an active
member, holding responsible
positions in a host of
social organizations,
Dr. Ramachandran is now
involved in private clinical
practice and lives at
Ernakulam.

Born
on December 2, 1942 in a
village called Kizhaparayattil,
near Bharananganam in Kottayam
district, Swami completed
his high school studies
in 1960. His spiritual journey
through Yoga began when
he came a disciple of Swami
Bodananda at Kumaranalloor
soon after his high school
studies. In 1962 he became
an inmate of Ramakrishna
mission at Thiruvalla, where
he accepted “ mantradiksha’
from the vice president
of Ramakrishna Mission,
Swami Yatheeswarananda.
From Thiruvalla he went
to Belur Math, the headquaters
of Ramakrishna Mission to
study for 2 years. In 1968
he reached the ashram at
Kaladi, where he obtained
expertise in ‘Prasthanathrayabhashyam’
from Panditratna A Sankara
Sharma. In 1972 he received
‘ Sanyasadiksha’
from the Mission President,
Swami Vireswarananda. Subsequently
he visited all the pilgrim
centres in India, including
Uttar Kasi, where he stayed
for 6 months. In 1998 Swami
became the head of the Ashram
at Kaladi, from which position
he retired in 2002. He now
lives in Ramakrishna Sevashramam,
Kaloor, Kochi. He is at
present the Managing Trustee
of Ramakrishna Sevashramam.

nambodiripad is a
renowned astrologer
(jyothish). He is
also well versed in
vastusastra (architectural
science) and provides
counseling in both.
After schooling in
chethallur in palakkad
district, he learned
jyothish in the ‘gurukul’
system of education
from the guru puliyath
krishnankutty gupta
and is a practitioner
of this science for
the last 26 years.

an almanac (calendar)
called ‘Yogakshema
Panchangam’ which
is 98 years old. This
is presently edited by
Narayanan Namboodiripad.
He also anchors a series
of episodes on jyotish

titled ‘ Suprabhatham’
on the TV channel Asianet.
He also writes on astrology
in the sunday supplement
of the daily, Malayala
Manorama and bi-weekly,
Vanitha. He lives in Kunnamkulam,
Trichur district, Kerala.
